The Borehole Solution Group, is a long established multi-disciplinary company with its land management division, and its geotechnical & geoenvironmental contractor and consultant division. We now have a unique opportunity for a Ground Investigation Lead Driller with at least 3 years relevant industry experience to join our growing Geotechnical Division primarily working out of the Peterborough area. However other area’s are available.

The role will involve operating our multi-purpose rotary drilling rigs on various projects in a wide range of environments. A challenging and rewarding role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operation of multi-purpose geotechnical rotary drilling rigs. Some experience of working with the Sonic drilling system would be of benefit but not essential.
  • Undertake geotechnical sampling, coring, open holing and in-situ testing to recognised industry standards.
  • High quality installation of geotechnical and geo-environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Responsible for onsite drilling operations and management of Drilling Support Operatives/Assistant Drillers.
  • Maintain company drilling rig, equipment and vehicles to a high standard.
  • Produce daily driller log sheets.
  • Liaise with clients, colleagues and scheme engineers.
  • Work in accordance to company SHEQ procedures.

Essential Professional/Technical Skills & Qualifications:

  • In-depth working knowledge of drilling rigs and their capabilities. Preferably NVQ Land Driller qualified.
  • Minimum of three years lead rotary drilling experience preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK ground investigation industry, standards and working practices.
  • A good working knowledge of health and safety practises.
  • Willing to work throughout the UK and stay away overnight as contracts demand – majority of work will however be within commutable distance.
  • Industry relevant tickets/qualifications desirable including: CSCS, NPORS, CPCS however training will be provided.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to self-manage.
  • You will possess a clean driving licence.
